Dear patient , let me try to explain to you my invention idea. It came to me while ago trying to treat my multiple patients from recurrent and stubborn to treat not mentioning costs and time factor TOE NAIL FUNGUS. The problem with that is that fungus even treated always (99%) is recurrent . Most important role in that high recurrence plays contaminated environment where patient continues to re-infect himself, most important and hard to solve would be patient’s shoes. During treatment of nail fungus patient continues to wear contaminated shoes , which prolongs treatment tremendously, then patient under the treatment not suppose to buy new shoes to not contaminate them as well. Treatment for toe nail fungus lasts from 6-18 or more months , involves daily oral or topical highly costly meds. Patient suppose to treat shoes with antifungal sprays , but in reality shoes stay infected as fungus if not killed completely will multiply fast in warm ( home) environment even without host/ patient present. It is most stubborn infection on earth.
Regular socks do not provide barrier as many people believe ,because sweating in shoes will provide good channels for fungus to travel back and forth . Similar ,people rent bowling , skiing and skating boots and infect themselves while doing sports/sweating .
We protect ourselves in the swimming pool by wearing rubber hats , we know that we need to use rubber gloves when dealing with infection , but so far nobody thought of protective socks !
Now , my invention would be multifunctional, but mostly for the purpose of stopping reinfection and prevent new contamination if wearing somebody’s used or own previously infected shoes.
Invention itself would be in application of thin layer of silicon/ gel over the toe part of the shoes to provide antifungal barrier , that gel layer would be washable in color safe chlorine wash . It also can be infuse with antifungal natural ( like tea tree oil) or even medicated remedies if needed, but not necessary. Silicone gel layer in socks would not only be waterproof and then create complete barrier between toes and shoes , but also will provide moisturizing therapeutic effect to the dry skin and will prevent from blisters , calluses and wound formation over hummer toes and bunions pressure points. It would be great for diabetics as well. But my invention mostly in toe nail antifungal barrier , protective socks that are washable.
Hope my explanation will make sense to you, As there is none available currently anywhere else on market for consumer. Gel pads are available, there are diabetic socks, but nothing for antifungal barrier in shoes while under treatment or after. Shoes are expensive and most people do not consider getting rid off them. My silicone socks will have thin protective layer of gel in the same location and would serve for antifungal protection/ barrier.
